new stuff!

okay
so last night i really wanted ice cream, so my friends and I drove to the closest Dairy Queen.
i got a MINT OREO blizzard in a MINI cup!

that's right folks! Dairy Queen has a new cup size for all those kids who can't finish a small, who are on a diet but don't have a lot of willpower, or who aren't too keen on spending money (yes, that's my nice way of saying cheap)!

i know where i'm going to be going on my cheat days more often.

movie review

last night I saw Inception (clearly). I don't want to give the movie away to anyone who hasn't seen it, but let me just say that at some parts I was saying to myself "what the hell is going on". I suggest you watch the movie twice, since that's what I plan to do, (but i'm not going to spend $12.25 again. i'm renting this thing when it comes out on DVD. sorry leo) because it's definitely a mind twister.

i noticed something about leo dicaprio...in almost every movie i've seen him in (minus Titanic because I haven't seen it (yeah, i'm a terrible girl so screw me)) he's crazy. First the aviator, then shutter island, now this. i shouldn't even been complaining because i find crazy people quite attractive. um...anyways. i give him two thumbs up in this movie. nice job, leo.

um so ellen paige was also in this movie. to be honest, as much as i love my canadian actresses and actors, i dont see what's so great about her. i mean she's good but she isn't amazing (yeah, i wasn't in love with juno either. in my opinion, it was overrated). thank god marion coutillard was in this movie to satisfy me in the female acting part of the movie. for those of you who have never heard of her, i highly suggest you watch la vie en rose, especially if you love french movies!

enough of women!

for you girls whose boyfriends or guy friends are begging you to see this movie and you want to see some romantic film, i HIGHLY suggest you watch inception if you're a sucker for a good looking man in a suit. there are PLENTY of them in this movie. i'm not really a leo dicaprio fan myself, but i have a thing for joseph gordon-levitt. can you blame me? i love that boyish charm he has going on.

overall, the movie was amazing, and if you enjoy thinking and having your mind twist and turn, i highly suggest you watch it; it will definitely blow your mind.

blah

okay, so it's really nice outside but i'm super depressed.

why?

I MISS HOCKEY

ahh hockey. the cold arena. the sound of a slap shot. your heart pounding 32839 beats a minute when you're sittng on the edge of you're seat because your team has a power play. the feeling of accomplishment when you're team wins (even though you didn't do anything at all to help them)

and how could i forget the irresistible hockey players.

on september 7th, i will be starting a countdown in preparation for the regulation season to start (yayayayayayayayayayayay!): 30 players in 30 days. i will count down my favourite players from september 7th until october 6th (and yes, the order mattes). i cannot wait to start this! (and you all might feel like you're reading the Hockey for the Ladies blog when i write it, but Stephanie Meyer (blogger) is truly an inspiration, so you can't blame me!)

i've just been sitting in my room and watching videos of one of my favourite players- Sidney Crosby. Not only is he THE BEST player in the NHL, but he's modest, a good sport, CANADIAN (yum!), and really really HOT (there, NOW i sound like i write HFTL)

okay, if this video doesn't make you melt, i don't know WHAT will.

this post has officially made me happy again.
77 days until the season starts! Penguins all the way!

jogging

okay.
so i just want to start off with an apology for being a huge FAILURE at the alphabet of music.
i think in order to be successful with this blog and try to write on it at least 5 times a week, i just need to write whatever i want, not schedule posts.
SO
since i've been so terrible to whoever is reading this, today I am going to talk about the benefits of...
WORKING OUT.
no, i'm not freakin' kiddin. i think you would been laughing if you knew what i look like. now, i'm not in the best shape as I could be in, i've been killing myself trying to get into shape and just be more healthy and lucky, it's been a success! (20 pounds down!)
not only is working out GOOD FOR YOU, but after a nice, hard workout you feel 1009324832 times more energized and awake (so caution: do NOT work out before going to bed or else you'll have trouble falling asleep, hence why i'm writing this post).

now, i'd just like to point out that working out right after you eat is stupid and yes, working out on an empty stomach is even more stupid. so where is the middle? try to eat at least 2-4 hours before working out! I guarentee no cramps and more energy for the work out! Don't forget to EAT though! You need those carbs in ORDER to work out. NEVER CUT OUT A FOOD GROUP FROM YOUR DIET!!!!!
in case you're wondering what you SHOULD be eating, i'll give you a taste (ha!) of what I eat on a daily basis.
9:30- Fibre One Cereal with Skim Milk or a Fibre One bar
11:30- Depending on what's in the fridge, either a Protein Bar or a turkey sandwich with fat free mayo and tomatoes on rye bread
3:00- fruit. don't give me this whole "but fruit has a lot of sugar" bullshit. it's NATURAL sugar. plus fruit is good for short term energy (much better than a can of coke) who is the one losing weight here?
5:30/6- Chicken Breast or Steak (the leanest you can buy) with a salad

and to drink? WATER, WATER, WATER! we're made of it, so why drink anything else?

i do weight training three times a week and cardio four times a week. if 20 pounds isn't motivation for you guys, i don't know what is!

so get off the computer after reading this blog, and get outside for a walk. you gotta start somewhere, right?

proprio scemi

Forza Azzurri? More like vaffaculo, Azzurri!

I am disgusted with the way that the Italian soccer team played this FIFA world cup. I understand that the defending champions have a very small chance of winning the cup two years in a row, but to be LAST in your group when the other teams stink? I'm sorry, Italy, there are no excuses. Retiring was a smart move for coach Marcello Lippi.

The team this year thought they could kick everyone's ass in their group. Now, I have no problem with that mindset as long as they actually do kick everyone's ass. Instead, they TIED Paraguay, TIED New Zealand, and LOST to Slovakia (a country SMALLER than Wisconsin!) We couldn't pass the ball more than twice without the other team getting it. Unacceptable, Italy.

The biggest problem with the team this year? Almost EVERYONE was old. Now, my mother got mad at me when i said this because 37 isn't old (age of Fabio Cannavaro, the captain, who might I add played the worst). Sorry to break it to you, mom, but for a soccer player, it is. Other teams had young players who were fast. SPEED is what the old guys lacked.

Now that my team is out I honestly don't know who to cheer for. I COULD jump on the Brazil bandwagon like everyone else, but I'm kind of digging Argentina. I always love me the underdog.

Another four years until I can proudly put the Italian flag on my car but until then, I walk with shame.

stay tuned

so i've been super busy since my last entry (really, who would have known) and tonight I am super tired to write the post i wanted to write. but for those of you who are reading, here are some things i will be writing about a.s.a.p:

1. hockey: why i love it, how i began to love it, my favourite teams, players, etc.

2. music: what i listen to, how it has become my life

3. soccer: i'm italian, so i have A LOT to say about the FIFA world cup games

4. glee!! and other t.v shows i watched/have started to watch

5. anything else that pops in my little head

so just be patient everyone! these entries will be written as soon as possible! on the plus side, i hope you all enjoy the new layout!!

bon nuit!

the first of many

let me introduce myself:

my name is Josie. i'm canadian, i love hockey and music, and i'm praying that at least one person will read this blog.

so why start a blog now?

a few months ago a good friend of mine posted on my facebook wall a url of a blog named "Hockey For the Ladies" because she was convinced that I wrote it. hell, even after reading it I was convinced that I wrote it.

***side note: for those of you who love hockey and men, get off this blog and go on HFTL immediately.***

i had a blog about six years ago, but that didn't work out too well. After exploring the HFTL blog, i was inspired me to make one of my own!

so this blog might suck

but everything written is MY opinion. i don't mind if you disagree, just don't bash me and my point of view. R-E-S-P-E-C-T .

for my first post, i thought i'd start out with something hockey related. for those of you that don't know, the chicago blackhawks (stanley cup champions) are one of the best teams (both looks and play) in the NHL. so here's a video showing their funny (yet weird) side.

this is the first of many weird hockey videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i5mczgvZLU&playnext_from=TL&videos=CqW97RMmGhc&feature=grec_index

toews loses points for that ugly hat. kane gains them for being so darn cute in that headband.

enjoy, whoever reads this (and brace yourself for some crazy embarassing stuff i'll be posting)

i try to learn how to make my blog prettier AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. it's not like i have anything better to do this summer.
